The Amuze app currently offers audio tours for 15 different museums and 5 virtual tours. We are glad to hear that many of you find our tours interesting, and we are always happy to listen to your feedback. One of the things we hear frequently is that a certain artwork should be added to a museum tour. While we cannot accommodate all suggestions, we love to learn about your tastes and keep track of all suggestions!

One museum that we get many suggestions for is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Our highlights tour consists of 16 stops, but as the museum is so big, we totally understand that we are missing a lot of highlights there. One suggestion that we got a lot was the spectacular portrait of Madame X by John Singer Sargent. We are happy to announce that we developed new audio on this “American Mona Lisa” and believe that it perfectly fits in our highlights tour of the Metropolitan.
Another spectacular portrait that was recommended frequently is the Self-Portrait in a Straw Hat by Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun in the National Gallery in London. During a time that she was traveling through Flanders, she saw a portrait by Peter Paul Rubens that made a deep impression on her. She used Rubens’ example to create a contemporary portrait of herself, which is now one of the true masterpieces of the National Gallery and part of our renewed highlights tour.

The third addition is a work by the highly influential Realist and Impressionist painter, Édouard Manet. In the National Gallery of Art hangs his painting The Railway. It is a work that broke with many of the artistic conventions of the time. It is an intriguing piece of work representative of Manet’s highly innovative nature. We believe that this work is a great addition to the highlights tour of the National Gallery of Art.

All these tours are freely available in the Amuze app (available on iOS and Android). And, keep the suggestions and feedback coming. We love to hear from and understand how we can make your (virtual) museum visits even more enjoyable. Just email us at amuze@tripimprover.com.

Cheers, Eelco
