The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum forms, together with the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia, the golden triangle of art in Madrid. Earlier, we released an audio tour of the Prado Museum, and now you can also enjoy a tour of the Thyssen-Bornemisza during your visit to Madrid. They are perfectly complementary museums, as the collection of the Thyssen was designed to fill some of the gaps in the other museums in Madrid. Our new highlights tour takes you from a classic 15th-century portrait by Domenico Ghirlandaio to Modern Art by artists like Wassily Kandinsky. The tour is freely available in the Amuze app (available on Android and iOS).
This museum was established in 1992. A large part of the art inside comes from the private collection of Heinrich, Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza de Kászon and his son Hans Heinrich. Our highlights tour contains some unique works of art from artists all of Europe and from different art movements. There are works by famous masters like Caravaggio, Degas, and Dürer, but also some more surprising works of art.

Among the works by somewhat lesser-known artists (to some) are a beautiful family portrait by Frans Hals and a spectacular, futuristic work by George Grosz. We believe that the mix of works in this tour allows all of you to learn something new about various art styles and artist, and we hope that this tour will make your visit to the Thyssen-Bornemisza unforgettable.

Let us know what your favorite works in this tour are!

Cheers, Eelco
