One of the available tours in the Amuze app is a Highlights Tour of the Louvre, the most-visited museum in the world. While the Louvre is an amazing museum if you know what you want to see, it is also easy to get lost in the incredible amount of art that is on display.
If you visit the museum for the first time, you probably should have a look at the most famous artwork in the world – the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. And how about some of the paintings of the French Romantic painters, and the ancient Greek statues, and some masterpieces by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Vermeer? And then you can see Egyptian art, a large collection of French sculptures, Spanish paintings from the Baroque period, etc. By now, you must already spend a full day at the Louvre, and then you are still missing many unique pieces of art.
We decided to help you a little bit. While our taste for art is subjective, there are some works of art that are so amazing that you have to see them. For example, few people will disagree that the Winged Victory of Samothrace is simply amazing. Walking up the grand stairs toward this enormous statue of more than 2000 years old will simply be a great experience. And in the Amuze app, we will tell you all about her. Who is she, what is she doing, and why does she seem so alive?
And what’s next after this statue? Just turn around and go to the large room behind you. There you will find an impressive painting by Jacques-Louis David on the Coronation of Napoleon. And then we guide you along some of the amazing works by Eugène Delacroix. Did you know that Liberty Leading the People inspired millions of people over time to become independent and to be proud of their country? And that this painting directly inspired the Statue of Liberty in New York?
And then we have not even reached the Mona Lisa yet. In our tour, we do our best to show you some of the true highlights of this museum. But what may be a highlight to us, may not necessarily be one to you. Our aim is to tell you about these highlights and make you understand at least why some people find that artwork incredible. That way, you learn more about art and you may find some hidden gems in the museum as well.
So, if you are planning on visiting the Louvre, we hope to welcome you on our tour and love to hear about your experiences!
